Public Law Trips to London

Each year I am delighted to lead a team in visiting the Houses of Parliament, Westminster (House of Commons and House of Lords) and Supreme Court in London. Below is a collection of photos of just some of the Members of Parliament, Secretaries of State, Members of the House of Lords, and Supreme Court Justices that we have met.

bangor law school mooting at the Supreme Court as part of the public law trip 2017

As part of our trip in 2017, Bangor Law School was lucky enough to be selected, by ballot, to hold a moot court competition final at the Supreme Court before Lloyd Lloyd Jones (the first Welsh Justice of the Supreme Court) and his Judicial Assistant. The problem question, that Stephen Clear authored for this moot final, concerned issues of divergence between English Law and Welsh Law on matters of administrative justice, human rights and Welsh health care provision. It was the first time a Welsh Law mooting problem question had been presented to the Supreme Court for a competition, and was also Lord Lloyd Jones’ first moot at the Supreme Court since he took up office as a Justice. The full problem question is detailed below, along with some photos of the competition.
